MINI ROOMBOXES PART THREE

Here is the third page of my miniature roomboxes and miniature scenes.

One of my miniature email clubs has been working on a project of making roomboxes for the Take A Seat chairs. I have four completed now. They are for 1)the Windsor High Chair, 2)the Beach-Sun and Surf Chair 3)the Garden Bench Chair 4)Mr Vanderbuilt's Chair 5)the Stardust Memories Chair 6)the Ribbon Chair (which includes a hand chair I made) and 7)the Viridian Chair.

This is an oriental roombox which also has one of the Take A Seat chairs- the peacock chair. There are three pics- the full box and both sides. Most of the little jars and bottles are pretty beads I found in a craft store.

This general store has been sitting around empty ever since my dear husband put the outside together, several months ago. I had made a ton of groceries for it and together with some swaps from Miniature Eats N Treats and Miniature Collectors Club, I finally had enough to stock it. The first picture shows the shop, "Fern's Country Market" from the outside. Then it is shown from the top down. I used a piece of old catalog included with the kit and made it into wallpaper. The left side shows a checkerboard table with stools (the pieces are stored behind the counter until needed so they won't get lost). The barrel in the front corner has different kinds of shovels, rakes, hoes and mops. The left side shelves are stocked with various canned and packaged groceries including soups, fruits, salads and baking goods. There are several barrels containing soaps, different types of pickles and cotton candy. There are sacks of animal food, flour and more and a big bucket of iced sodas on the counter. At the back of the store are more groceries with large jars of hot chocolate, matzoh ball soup and lots of spices. Baskets line the top of the back and right side. One of the shelves has some toys including cars, a boat, a phone and some teddy bears. The shelf below has a postcard display, several sets of toilet paper and colorful clothes hangers. On the top shelf you can find some firewood, wallpaper rolls and nails. The shopkeeper is busy ringing up someone's groceries. The last picture shows the right wall with some fancy vases, a few shirts and hat, sewing items and some books and records. In the right front corner there is a stand with a seed display and garden merchandise including pots, tools and dirt. In front of that display are two carts displaying pizza and sandwiches on one and desserts on the other. The frame is of the first dollar spent by a customer in the store.

This is a teacup scene which I made from a beautiful china teacup I picked up. It is difficult to see but there are curtains on the window. The table has plates with sandwiches on them, the teacups have tea and teabags in them and there is a plate of rainbow cookies and pitcher of milk too, besides the teapot.

Here is a little scene I made from a paper mache book I bought in Michaels. It is the Little Mermaid. The outside is the book cover and then I included the full inside pic and left and right closeups. Some of the accessories I got from a tacky tourist store but others are made by me, including little Flounder.

Here is a Wizard's Room which was made with the help of the book "Miniature Worlds". It is made from a paper mache open "book" and some of the items were given to me by swapping friends. There are a lot of details on the table such as the loaf of bread with the fairy, the filled jars, the crystal ball. On the stairs are numerous books, a potted mandrake, a magic box and a wand. Notice all the jars and books in the bookcase and the skull which holds another book of spells. The owl and the black cat are sitting quietly observing the scene. In the balcony there is another table with three old maps laid out. The wizard was made by my friend Lorrie. Special thanks to friends Dori and Chris for their cute additions of books, signs and boxes. The first picture is of the full scene of the inside book. Then there are pics of the book covers and then closeups of parts of the scene.

This doctor's bag scene is a roombox I created out of my wish that I had gone to Medical School. My daughter Kelli is currently studying epidemiology so I may give this roombox to her when she graduates, but until then, it is mine. The doctor's bag itself was purchased from Shannon Moore who put in the window and door and lights. The first pic is of the Dr scene from the outside. The next two are the entire scene looking into the bag. Most of the furniture was made from taking apart Michael's hutches and remaking them into the 2 bookcases, an office cabinet and an examination table. There are many little medical items like vaseline, aspirin, cough syrup and cold tablets in the bookcase. I also have added medical tools like tweezers, a syringe, forceps, stethoscope, various scopes, medical books and lots of supplies like cotton balls, rubber gloves, ice pack, hot water bottle, tongue depressors and much more. Also look for the crutches, walker, scale, IV pole with extra doctor's jacket and stethoscope hanging up. On the exam table is a folded patient gown and otolaryngoscope with several xrays. The file cabinet has files of the Dr's many patients and there are a few xrays already being viewed on the light cabinet. Thanks go to Nicki and Wendy for their contributions as well as Jaime, Anamari, Darby and Sherry for their swap items.

This little scene is made in a hollow pumpkin which I carved out and put a scene in. The little children are having a Halloween party. There are plenty of treats on the table and they are going to bob for apples too.

This is a scene I have made two of....one for me and one for my mother......both of us have lost pets who were members of the family. It is difficult to see but the meadow has flowers which are pink, purple, orange and yellow. The benches each have Rainbow Bridge books with pictures of our pets. There is also a picture of the front of the books. The brown book is my mother's scene. The front shows pictures of her two cats Smoky and Nimo. Here are the cats in the rainbow bridge scene with a closeup of them too. And next is my Rainbow Bridge scene with my two dogs Tobi, the poodle terrier and Gizmo, the shih tzu joyfully reuniting with my sweet daughter Jami, who is in Heaven. Lorrie Apasewicz made the Jami doll and Sue Veeder made the dogs and cats.

It seems like forever since I finished a roombox, since we have been spending so much time on the big dollhouse but I did finally finish my vintage kitchen roombox. It is made to look like it is in a 50's television. There is an old stove, refrig, sink plus table with food waiting.

This is a scene I have wanted to do for a while and finally took the time to complete it. I have always loved looking at the lobstermen of New England and this is a scene depicting them. The surface of the water and of the sand was made by carving floral foam and then gluing newspaper pieces over it and painting it with several colors. I then added liquid beads to the water and sand to the beach. Many of the accessories I picked up in little tacky tourist stores in New England and others were hand made. A few came from some swaps from groups. The background pictures are ones I took of Maine seaports. The pictures are of the full scene and then closeups and finally a view of the scene looking down.

This is a kitchen I made in Brooke Tucker's workshop It'll Make You Want To Cook Kitchen". I had a fantastic time there and learned a lot from Brooke. She is a great teacher and a sweet person. I have revised the pictures since I got to finish the roombox but the first 2 pics are of the view out the door and window before I added most of the accessories. Then the next two pics are closeups without some of the accessories added. After those two, the next ones show the roombox now. The roombox is complete with the birdcage and plants for the window. The doors and windows were made piece by piece and the scenes outside of both are of Maui. The tiles behind the cookstove center were made from a picture. I cut the picture into 1/2 inch squares, reassembled them, sprayed it with Deft semigloss interior spray, grouted it and sprayed several times more. The closeups to show the baskets and frozen moments on the shelf, the pizza making area and the foods on the table.
