JAMI'S MEMORIAL PAGE

My beautiful daughter Jami died on February 2, 2001. She was suffering from multiple sclerosis and after almost seven years of enduring worsening symptoms of the disease, she could not go on any longer. Below is a large frame containing lots of pictures of my Jami from infancy until adulthood. I called her Sunshine because of her lovely smile which could light up a room. She was a bright talented creative person who we all miss so very much.

Next is a shadowbox which my friend Carolyn sent me to fill up with memories of Jami. There are nine boxes which I have filled up with reminders. The themes are as follows starting with the top row from the left:

SCUBA- Jami loved scuba diving. At one time she thought about becoming an underwater photographer. She was a good diver who loved the ocean life and beauty of the sea.
ART- Jami was a creative artist who painted, drew and sculpted many wonderful works of art. She went to photography school and took beautiful pictures of the world around her. Many of her photos are pictured on the board in miniature in this box.
MUSIC- Jami played the guitar and the drums. She loved music and always had music playing in her house. Her favorite type of music was reggae but she loved Sarah McLaughlan's songs, the Indigo Girls and Loreena McKennitt.
MISCELLANEOUS- This box has a doll made to look like Jami and her dog Gizmo. Also included in the box are a bible and prayer book. She was a very spiritual person. There is a goblin water globe which she liked and a water bottle which she never went anywhere without.
CENTER BOX- This box has her picture and has several items she used like her passport, sleeping bag and suitcase. There is a little bonsai tree to signify her love of nature.
NEW ZEALAND/AUSTRALIA- Jami loved to travel and she loved New Zealand and Australia. She spent almost a year in New Zealand when she visited there twice. Included in this box is a doll dressed in an authentic Maori costume, holding a New Zealand flag. There is also an ornament from Australia which depicts native animals such as the koala, which was Jami's favorite. I have also included some shells and leaves from New Zealand.
JAMAICA- Jami loved Jamaica. It was Bob Marley's home, who was her favorite musician and she loved the reggae scene. She never got to visit Jamaica but her ashes were scattered in the waters of Jamaica now. I have a nice image of her dancing happily to reggae music. Included in the box are items which I picked up from Jamaica like a little backpack in Jamaican colors, a tam like the one Jami always wore, a sun hat which she also wore, a little bus and a pic of Bob Marley.
HIPPIE ITEMS: Jami was a flower child who loved hippie dresses, candles, jewelry and lava lamps. Included in this box are dresses made by a friend, a picture she used to hang up in her room and a purse like hers.
HORSES: Jami used to ride horses when she was young. She had a favorite pony named Pollyana who she loved. She was in horse shows and won several medals for jumping. The box has several riding items like chaps, boots, a saddle and a bucket with brushes. There is a small horse and medal.

I have included one picture of the whole box, one of the sign on the box and then individual pics of each box. I want to thank all my friends from all over the world, who sent me little items to include in Jami's box.

Here are two more pictures of Jami, taken about five years ago, when she posed professionally for a photographer. They were done at Roger Williams Park in Rhode Island.

Two few art students who had Jami as a model in their art class were wonderfully kind to give me their artwork of Jami. One is a pastel portrait by Kathy Weber and the other is an oil painting by Tom Martino.

These are some pictures of a doll which Julie Fischer, a wonderful doll artist, made for me based on pictures of my sweet Jami when she was five years old.
